The Right Target Using Shooting Accessories

Visual skills are very important when it comes to using your weapon, which is why a great deal of time, money and effort are invested in attempting to optimize visual situation through accessories.  There has been a wide spread debate about mounting a red dot on pistols, the need to have an active reflex sight for low light conditions with a laser pointers, weapon-mounted flashlights, back up sights, and what are all of these, except that there is a need to differentiate how one looks at the either where your pistol is aiming at or the target.

It has been the practice of many shooters sometimes to focus greatly on a target and in the process blur the front sight.  We can explain it in the following manner.  Just remember that our eyes have the tendency to focus on objects at a farther distances because when it does that, the eyes are more relaxed.  Now if you want to look at something on the front sight of your weapon, your relaxed eye then need to exert greater effort to now focus on the front sight, and it gets strained on doing that.  Sometimes there is a need to focus on different distances and when this happens it causes great strain on our eyes and it gets muscular fatigue that affects not only our sight but our bodies as a whole.

How can this be helped with shooting accessories?  It is good to remember that the outcome concern that puts our focus on the target is not the goal.  The target is only required for an aiming reference.  So that the shooter will not be distracted mentally and visually, the Red dot sight accessories are put in place.  So these accessories help our rifle or pistol point at the right direction and not to worry about the target or the aiming reference and not the other way around as some marketers point out.

The laser and the pistol flashlight are not there to put your attention to the target, this is the reason why there is this ongoing controversy among shooters.  Shooters are divided on this and some strong oppose it and some are in favor of it.  Those who are oppose are those who prefers the iron sights.  Where is this coming from?  The reason for this is that those who prefer to use iron targets believe that you can put more attention on looking at the front sight of your weapon and they do not support the idea that people have the natural tendency to focus on the target.
